We're hiring W-2 employees who do the work right and document it.

$20+/hr starting. No 1099. No commission. No daily quotas. The same crew runs the same routes every other month, you'll know your customers by name within three visits.

How we structure the work

A steady job with a clear scope.

Much of the home-services industry runs on 1099 contractors, commission ladders, and quota pressure. We don't. The structure below protects both the work and the people doing it.

W-2, not 1099

Every field tech is a W-2 employee. Payroll, unemployment insurance, workers' comp, all of it. We don't use the 1099 contractor model because it creates the wrong incentives, for the company and for the customer.

Wages, not commission

$20–25/hr loaded, flat. No commission on Pros sales. No quotas to hit. Your job is to do the work right and send a photo report. The website and the member portal handle the sales side, not the crew.

Same crew, same houses

Routes are stable. You serve the same customers every other month. They know your name; you know theirs. That recurring relationship is what the whole business runs on, and it makes the work steadier than a typical contractor day.

Roles we don't post

What we don't hire for (and why).

Keeping our lane narrow keeps quality high. The roles we won't post are the ones that would break the cost structure, or compete with the partners we route work to.

Licensed trades, HVAC techs, electricians, plumbers

We hire for trainable, non-licensed maintenance roles and route every licensed trade to a vetted partner. The member pays the partner directly and we never mark it up. Keeping our lane narrow is what lets us pay above market and stay focused on the work we do.

Sales reps or commission-driven roles

Housewell doesn't sell add-ons through field staff. The crew's job is to do the work; sales happen through the website and member portal. That keeps every visit about the visit, and keeps the customer relationship straightforward.

Long-term: when we reach enough volume in a trade lane (probably year 3+), we'd consider acquiring an existing licensed operation rather than building one from scratch on payroll. If that happens, we'd hire then, not before. For now, holding this line is what keeps the company sustainable.

Where you'll work

Stone Oak first. San Antonio next.

Field roles run inside the launch ZIP. Office work has flex. Bilingual hires get a premium across every role.

Stone Oak first

Field roles work in our launch ZIP, 78261, with 78259 and 78260 opening next. The office coordinator role is remote-friendly with a weekly in-person day. Dispatch hub at our San Antonio office (address shared at interview).

Bilingual premium in SA

San Antonio is 64.6% Hispanic. Spanish/English bilingual hires get a +$1/hr premium across every field and office role. The premium stacks with every other pay structure, it isn't a bonus, it's part of base pay.

Setting expectations

The work we won't ask you to do.

If any of these match the parts of past jobs that wore you out, that's the point. We took them off the list on purpose.

×

Judge or report on the condition of a customer's home.

That's outside our scope. You do tasks and you document them with photos. If you happen to notice something, you mention it verbally and we route it to the right partner, that's it.

×

Push partner referrals or upsell Pro Network access.

Partner work is member-initiated only. The crew doesn't bring up partner work during visits, and crew pay has no link to whether a referral happens. When a member routes a job, they pay the partner directly and we never mark it up.

How partner work works
×

Cut corners on photo reports.

Every visit ends with photos of the tasks you completed. No skipping, no fast-tracking, no we'll do it next time. The photo report is as much of what the member pays for as the work itself.
